Privacy Policy

Introduction

DailyWalks is an iPhone app that helps you set a daily step goal, keep track of your walks, and look back on your progress over time. It uses Apple Health to read your step count and shows stats like steps, estimated calories burned, and estimated distance walked.

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information DailyWalks collects, how it's stored, and the rights you have over your data.

Information We Collect

DailyWalks collects and stores the following information, all of which either comes directly from you or is based on your Apple Health data:

  • User profile: your name and profile picture.
  • Daily step goal: the daily step goal you set.
  • Goal lock date: a timestamp that stops you from changing your goal more than once a day.
  • Daily walking logs: date, step count, estimated calories burned, estimated distance, and whether you met your daily goal.

DailyWalks doesn't require an account, a sign-up, or any kind of login.

How Your Data Is Stored

All of your data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework (backed by SQLite), and profile images use SwiftData's external storage. None of it is ever sent to a server, a cloud service, or any other outside system.

HealthKit Data

DailyWalks asks for read-only access to your Apple Health step count (HKQuantityType.stepCount). This is used only to show your step count for the current day, and the app never writes anything back to Apple Health.

This data is covered by Apple's own Health privacy policies and the permissions you grant. You can turn off access at any time in iOS Settings > Health > DailyWalks.

Local Notifications

DailyWalks may ask for permission to send local notifications when you reach your goal or hit a monthly milestone. These notifications are created entirely on your device, with no push notification server involved.

Data Export

You can export your walking history as a CSV file through the iOS share sheet. You start the export yourself, and the file stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

Data Deletion

You can delete all of your data, including your profile, walking history, and settings, right from the app's Settings tab using the “Delete All Data” button. This permanently removes everything from your device.

Third-Party Services

DailyWalks never makes a single network request. There's no backend, no analytics, no crash reporting, no ads, and no third-party libraries. The app doesn't collect, send, share, or sell your data to anyone.

Children's Privacy

DailyWalks doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Because everything stays on your device and nothing is sent anywhere, there's really no data collection in the usual sense.
